Last week, Instagram the online mobile photo and video sharing social media networking service changed its logo. The world hated. Yes, the whole wide world. In case you haven’t seen it, this is what it looks like;

On the 11th May 2016, on their own blog they released this statement;

“Today we’re introducing a new look. You’ll see an updated icon and app design for Instagram. Inspired by the previous app icon, the new one represents a simpler camera and the rainbow lives on in gradient form.”

To many media outlets, when further quizzed about the decision to make the change, especially after the backlash from the public appeared on Facebook and Twitter, a spokesman from the company released this statement;

“We’ve been inspired by all the ways the community has grown and changed, and we wanted to create something that reflects how vibrant and diverse storytelling on Instagram has become.”

And not only were they inspired, but they have in turn inspired many other social media websites to look at changing their logos.
